It was the first game where you start with a peasant-producing town center, make peasants, make them go mine resources/chop wood, build farms for food, then build military and other buildings and create an army. Warcraft 1 was the the that AoE copied, which in turn was copied by many more, which created the classic RTS genre. However, it wasn't the game that every other game copied. However, Dune II was the first one to have relatively smooth isometric gameplay and did have a resource gathering aspect, even if it was completely unique to itself, so I'm sure did affect Warcraft 1. There weren't armies, you clicked individual tanks and gave them individual commands. It had a unique Dune-based economy aspect centered around spice, you weren't building farms or creating a population of peasants to chop wood, mine ore, no farms, etc. Dune II was a game with vehicles, guns shooting and stuff exploding. You could play Romans only in a couple special scenarios based on historical battles where you couldn't build any buildings. Each had different missions (I think 2 or 3) and in the end you fought against the other brother. For example, in Celtic campaign you could choose to play as one of two brothers, one who allied with Romans and the other who fought against them. One cool thing the campaign had was that you could sometimes choose one of two different path. I didn't finished the campaign, so I don't know when or if you even play Huns in it. First you played as Germans, then Celts and then back to Germans instead of Huns. I remember the campaign went a bit weird. Especial Huns stuck out to me, all their buildings being blood-covered tents with lot of skulls decoration (pic related). The most significant thing that comes to my mind is that despite being set in a historical setting, the aesthetic was rather fantasy-like much to the point where the three playable factions (Germans, Celts and Huns) were basically dwarves, elves and orcs. It was long time ago and I don't remember much, but it's a German rts. Must be something with the modern systems then. Replace the original AWE.EXE file with the one from the File Archive.Huh, I remember when I played the game ages ago I didn't have such problem. Most likely this Fixed EXE also works as a No-DVD and for other languages, but this has not been confirmed yet!Īncient Wars: Sparta v1.0 No-DVD/Fixed EXE
